FAQS: Frequently Asked Questions

  • The big question - how much?

    Funeral Fees:

    Most of the time, my fees are paid via the the Funeral Director you are using.  My standard Funeral Service fee is matched to the current Church of England Minster's fee, but this does vary between locations and different Funeral Directors. The interment of ashes ceremony is £50 if I have taken the original funeral service or £100 if not. Travel costs for the interment and funeral service may vary depending on the location.

    Wedding Fees:

    It's really hard to give a precise quote as every wedding is unique - If I travel to Scotland, this is obviously going to cost more than if I'm officiating on my doorstep in Nottingham.

    It also depends if you are opting for a simple exchange of vows ceremony, or are wanting something more complex. e.g. including a handfasting ritual; sand ceremony etc.

    The best thing to do is get in touch, so I can tailor a quote to suit your personal requirements.

    What are you getting?

    • exclusivity of your Celebrant on your day **
    • one face to face meeting;
    • unlimited messages or zoom meetings;
    • a rehearsal at the venue;
    • a bespoke wedding ceremony;
    • a presentation wedding certificate;
    • a presentation script.
    • and a lifetime of memories!

    ** some Celebrants book more than one Wedding  a day - not me!

  • Do you travel?

    Short answer is yes.

    I'm based  based in Nottingham, but cover most of the East Midlands.

    I can travel almost anywhere,  when the cost factored into my quotation.

  • Is my Celebrant Wedding Ceremony legal?

    No, not at present, thanks to lingering impact of Covid and the UK Gov't. dragging their heels over the legal changes!

    (Unless you live in Scotland and have a Humanist Celebrant, and absolutely no religious content or supernatural/spiritual references are allowed)

    You and your partner will have completed your wedmin paperwork  (a simple 2+2 statutory wedding in a registry office costs about £150-£250 depending on your location) either on the day of, or prior to your "proper" Wedding Ceremony....

    .......the Celebrant led Wedding Ceremony that everyone remembers.

  • How are you qualified to be a Celebrant?

    TJ has been fully trained and is insured by the International College of Professional Celebrants.

    Anyone can call themselve a Celebrant, but TJ believes in proper training and qualifications.

    She is working towwards an internationally recognised qualification, the NOCN Level 3 in Civil Celebrancy.

    If the Law Commission review is successful, only Civil Celebrants that have this particular qualification will be able to legally marry people.
