Mini-Ceremonies or Rituals
What is a Mini-Ceremony?
In relation to Celebrancy, they are small separate ceremonies, taking place within your Celebrant-led Wedding Ceremony....
or they can be conducted as standalone ceremonies after your Church/Registrar led Wedding, possibly as part of your evening entertainment for guests who didn't see you exchange vows or rings....
A great example is handfasting or to "tie the knot" - where the expression came from.
There are some pretty amazing mini-ceremonies that can be performed during a wedding and even some that can be done during funeral services.
Funeral Services - really?
Yes, really. We already incorporate certain ritualistic aspects in Funeral services. The marking of the Cross for those whom faith is a very important aspect of death and dying, or the Last Rites for those of a Catholic faith, are all classic "rituals".
A mini-ritual or mini-ceremony in a modern, non-religious Funeral Service could be something as simple as lighting a candle at the start of the service, or laying flowers upon the coffin during it.
Here are some examples:
Sand Ceremonies
Hand-fasting or tying the knot
Cocktail or Wine Ceremonies
Planting ceremonies
Oathing Stones
Candle Lighting
Laying of flowers
Grief Mandalas
Painting
Elements ( Fire, Earth, Water, Air)
Jumping the broomstick - or Jump the Broom as it's called.
